"Speaks for all of us country folks who left a piece of ourselves back home when we moved off to the city."
-Wes Ferguson, author of Running the River
In this collection of essays, Burke De Boer profiles singer-songwriters from across the American west. Herein are the artistic reflections of working cowboys, Americana musicians, and poets such as Forrest VanTuyl, Buffalo Kin, Jade Brodie, and Desiree Cannon. Along the way, De Boer relates his own story to their lyrics, and invites you to relate yours.
"An insightfully witty look at the changing digital currents and complex realities behind the modern-day cowfolk aesthetic."
-Avery Armstrong, Center for Texas Music History
